A General Introduction to Empire 1901
=====================================
Empire 1901 is a BBS DoorGame based on the classic game of Diplomacy. It is a
war game, played against the historical backdrop of pre-WWI Europe. Each of
seven players takes on the identity and responsibility of the rulers of one of
the Empirical powers of the day: England, France, Italy, Austria-Hungary,
Turkey, Russia, and Germany. Using strategy, team-work, and the occasional
stab in the back, these seven players vie for control of the Old World.
If you enjoy Risk, and you enjoy Chess, then you'll really like Empire 1901.
It's like Risk, with all of the dice and other elements of luck removed, and
replaced with added dimensions of Chess-like strategy. It's a game that
requires concentration, patience, and above all, a quick tongue.
One feature of Empire 1901 that sets it apart from other BBS DoorGames of its
sort, is that each days moves do not actually take effect until the end of the
day, when the host BBS's daily event is run (usually between midnight and 6
am). This keeps insomniac players from gaining an unfair advantage by being
the first player on before or after the event, as sometimes happens in other
DoorGames. A move can be entered at any time during a given day, and changed
as many times as the player wishes.
